Here’s a little info on chia: Chia is a seed found in Central America and Mexico. Chia seeds are one of the highest plant source of omega three fatty acids, with more omega 3’s then salmon. Chia also has five times the amount of calcium as milk does. What!? Yep. That is why I like to say-“Got Chia”? Chia is flavorless, odorless and can be easily incorporated into your meals. Chia seed becomes gelatinous once it is mixed with fluids so it acts as a thickening agent as well in recipes. Crisp Apple Mango Chia Cooler Recipe
Serves 3
Ingredients
1 red apple
1 ripe mango
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
1 large orange
2 T. chia seed (white or black will work)
1 tsp agave nectar
3/4 c. orange juice
3/4 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Directions
- Dice apple into large chunks
- Peel and chop mango
- Peel and separate orange
- Place frozen strawberries in blender and add all other fruit then top with chia and add liquid. Blend on high speed for about one minute. Will be slightly chunky if you don’t have a high powered blender
- Serve and enjoy!
*Can place leftovers in fridge will hold for up to 3 days
