I had to make a really tough decision recently. It’s one of those decisions you know you have to make for the betterment of all parties involved, but you avoid making at all costs. It’s kind of like breaking up with a boy who is super sweet and charming and everyone loves, but he’s dragging you down. Then when you break up you feel super sad, you may even cry but then relief sets in. Yeah, like that.
I started a business in June. I had been working on it full-time since January 1. It became my second child – a more demanding child at that. Originally, I intended to have a partner. That fell through and being the determined woman I am, I regrouped and went full-steam ahead and launched that sucker on my own. Launching it was one thing, maintaining and growing it was a whole other beast. I needed some help.
Finding help, in the form of a qualified human and in the form of green paper, was a huge commitment on its own. Neither of which, should be rushed into. I made that tough decision and stopped operations temporarily until I found the help that we need in order to make this business thrive and be more accessible to an even greater amount of people. Relief has set in and I’m looking forward to what the future holds for my company, myself and my family. Being a wife, mother and entrepreneur is tough. Nobody can ever articulate just how tough and lonely it is. You must go through it for yourself.
I have learned so much about myself, my relationships and, of course, starting a business from the ground up. No matter what the future holds, I am proud of myself for taking that risk and following my dreams. Every step taken to be our authentic self is a definition of success. And knowing when to press the pause button is an incredible gift.
