This protein shake recipe has 20 grams of complete protein! Keep reading to learn exactly how…
I eat plant-based. This means I eat predominately all plants. Since I do not eat animal protein, people usually ask how I get my protein. My doctor even asked me! Well friends (and Doctor so and so) let me tell you, I get a lot of protein! As a matter of fact most Americans get too much protein. I bet you didn’t know that. I didn’t until I started investigating it.
One way that I get complete proteins and a mix of vitamins, minerals and fiber is through Vega products. Vega is based out of Vancouver, BC and was started by plant-based IRON MAN TRIATHLETE, Brendan Brazier. Brendan ate plant-based and wanted a nutrient dense, high protein shake supplement that wasn’t whey based, which many are. Whey is the protein found in milk and since many of us are lactose intolerant, it doesn’t settle well in the ol’ tummy, if you catch my drift….
To all of you plant-protein skeptics out there, I have a question. How many of you have completed an Iron man? I just completed my first (mini) triathlon last weekend and I couldn’t imaging doing an Iron Man! What I’m trying to say is, if Brendan, an Iron Man Triathlete is behind Vega, I know I will get all the nutrients and complete proteins I need to fuel me through the day.
Vega has a complete line of quality plant-based meal supplements including bars, shakes and supplements. You may be thinking, how can you get high quality, complete proteins from plants!!!?? Great question. It’s all about pairing different proteins together to get all the necessary amino acids to hang out together and do their thang. Vega took care of it for me, so I just buy the shake supplement, throw my fruits, veggies and non-dairy milk into the blender and sip away.
